Requirements to Join Edgecombe or Nash NC AUXCOMM
Joining NC AUXCOMM is simple and open to all licensed amateur radio operators. Here's what you need:
A Valid FCC Amateur Radio License (Technician Class or higher)
A Passion for Radio Communication and a willingness to learn and participate
Interest in Community Service, especially through emergency communication support
We encourage all members to become active in public service and emergency communication operations, especially through AUXCOMM (Auxiliary Communications), which supports emergency response agencies during incidents and disasters.
AUXCOMM in Edgecombe or Nash County
If you're interested in assisting with emergency communications in Edgecombe County or Nash County, NC AUXCOMM is a great way to serve. NC AUXCOMM operators support local emergency management agencies, ensuring resilient communication in times of need.
Basic Requirements for AUXCOMM Participation:
Valid FCC Amateur Radio License General Preferred
Completion of FEMA Independent Study Courses:
IS-100: Introduction to the Incident Command System
IS-200: ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents
IS-700: National Incident Management System (NIMS)
IS-800: National Response Framework (NRF)
Willingness to participate in drills, activations, and training exercises
Familiarity with or willingness to learn emergency communication protocols and equipment
Training is available and encouraged to ensure all AUXCOMM participants are ready and qualified.
